Are you a criminal lawyer looking for a career move? We are looking for a talented and skilled lawyer to join our highly accomplished Research Division.

Position overview

The successful candidate will be a senior lawyer with sound experience in the practice of criminal law and a proven ability to manage a small team of lawyers. The position provides an excellent opportunity to enhance existing expertise and produce high quality legal material of a standard commensurate with the needs of judicial officers and legal practitioners who appear before the courts. There will also be the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the Commission’s Judicial Information Research System (JIRS).

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in law.
  • Sound knowledge and legal practice experience in criminal law and procedure with a minimum of 5 – 7 years PAE.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • High level analytical skills together with experience in writing high quality material relating to criminal law and sentencing.
  • Exceptional leadership skills and supervisory experience in a legal environment.
  • Proven ability to schedule workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Capacity to function autonomously and work as a part of a team.

*Total remuneration package from $145,962.09 –$168,803.81 (including salary range from $131,094 to $151,609 pa, employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading).
