About the program

Jesuit Community College, is a key initiative of Jesuit Social Services.

For people facing significant barriers to learning, the College provides opportunities for personal development, a solid foundation for further education and training and connection to a community of learning.

Transition to Work is a service to assist young people aged 15-24 years who are not in employment or education.

The Transition to Work service provides intensive, pre-employment support to improve the Work readiness of young people and to help them into work (including Apprenticeships or Traineeships) or education.

The service has a strong focus on helping young people to understand what is expected in the workplace and to develop the skills, attitudes and behaviours expected by Employers.

About the role

As a Transition Officer – STRIVE, you will be responsible for working with a group of up to 50 young job seekers at any one time, assisting the development of their employability skills, to prepare them for employment or education.

This is a part time position based in Hoppers Crossing with travel to other locations as required.

Candidate Requirements

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Minimum 12 months’ experience in Jobactive, Disability Employment Service or Transition to Work (essential)
  • Demonstrated experience (or capacity) to improve job-readiness of young jobseekers into employment
  • Proven success in achieving employment outcomes for young jobseekers, by advocating on their behalf to employers, to secure suitable work opportunities
  • The ability to successfully communicate, liaise and network with employers to identify vacancies and to develop ongoing service relationships and partnerships
  • To provide pre- and post-placement support on a fortnightly basis to young job seekers placed into employment or training to ensure sustainability
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders in government, the private and the community sectors.
  • Personal drive, passion and commitment to achieve the best outcomes for the people Jesuit Social Services is seeking to assist.
  • Understanding and sympathy with the mission and ethos of Jesuit Social Services
