About the program

Jesuit Social Services is establishing a national research, advocacy and capacity building centre into place-based approaches to strengthening communities. This is being done with the support of significant philanthropic funding and seed funding from government.

About the role

Jesuit Social Services has an exciting opportunity for an Ecological Justice Project Officer. This role plays an important role in fostering ecological justice across the organisation, within the sector and wider community. You will also enjoy networking and communicating with a broad range of stakeholders, whilst raising awareness and advocating for ecological solutions for vulnerable communities.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, you will need to be able to work remotely until we can resume regular office routines, from our Central Office location in Richmond.

Candidate Requirements

This role will suit a candidate with the following skills and experience:

  • Experience leading community engagement behaviour and/or system change initiatives and advocacy campaigns
  • Demonstrated understanding of the intersection between disadvantaged communities and environmental livelihoods
  • Experience in a range of sustainable industries and disciplines, to be able to provide holistic support, advocacy and guidance.
  • Project management experience including managing contractors and budgets
  • Highly developed communication, presentation and negotiation skills
