Group Financial Controller - St Vincent de Paul Society

Johnson Recruitment

The Organisation

Based in Box Hill, the St Vincent de Paul Society – affectionately known as “Vinnies” – is one of the most well recognised, highly regarded and, quite frankly, best loved charitable organisations in Australia. It is recognised for offering a “hand up” to people in need while respecting their dignity and encouraging them to take control of their own destiny. It has an enviable reputation for the quality of its work and is widely regarded as an “employer of choice”.

In 2020 the central offices of the two core operations of the Society’s Group – Vinnies and VincentCare (which works with individuals experiencing homelessness) – co-located in Box Hill. As a result, a transition to a shared services model is currently underway, which will provide internal services for all entities across the Group.

The Position

Reporting to the Executive General Manager Corporate Services, and leading a sizeable team, the newly created role of Group Financial Controller will head the shared services Finance unit within the Corporate Services division.

This key role will provide financial advice, support and expertise to the EGMCS, the Executive Management Team and other leaders across the Group, while developing and implementing financial internal control systems in a shared services environment to improve customer service delivery, continuously improve financial processes and controls and support the Boards in achieving the objective of long-term financial sustainability for the Group.

Ultimately, the role supports staff, members and volunteers to be effective in their responses to the most disadvantaged in our communities.

The Person

To be considered for this wonderful opportunity it is essential you have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related field
  • CAANZ or CPA qualification and current membership
