The Organisation:

Our client provides the best possible support to its community. It does this by providing personalised assistance to its members including advocacy, health and well-being, financial assistance, and counselling to name a few of the services on offer.

To ensure the Finance team continues to support the great work that this amazing organisation does, they now seek a Financial Controller with a strong focus on financial management and business partnering. This role is broader than a business-as-usual accounting role and requires an innovative approach to business process redesign.

The Role:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Controller will build financial management capability through business partnering, financial accounting, internal controls, and process improvements.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Leading the Finance team, including managing staff performance, monitoring workflow, and promoting a positive, engaging, and constructive team culture.
  • Ensuring strong Business Partnering occurs, by meeting regularly with budget holders to assess financial performance and to provide financial management information, analysis, and advice.
  • Prepare the Annual Financial Statements across 5 entities in accordance with all applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure key internal controls are in place and working continuously and effectively to safeguard the integrity of the financial records and reduce financial risk exposures.
  • Continuously review and improve Finance operational processes, and strengthen controls.

The Person: Requirements to be successful in the role are:

  • CA/CPA qualified.
  • Expert in the preparation of statutory financial statements managing year-end reporting processes and functioning as a key liaison with external auditors.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in budgeting, forecasting (including long-term financial planning), inventory control, and business partnering.
  • A strategic, process improvement focus, with demonstrated success in managing the implementation of significant systems or process change within a Finance operation, such as an ERP replacement/upgrade project.
  • Qualification in Project Management or similar highly regarded.
  • Previous experience working in a not-for-profit environment is desirable.

The Offer:

This role is a full-time and a permanent position. A competitive salary package is on offer of circa $155k plus super plus attractive NFP salary packaging. With CBD offices, a hybrid working arrangement is on offer.
