The Organisation

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Australia is a national not-for-profit organisation focused on mental health training and research. MHFA courses teach members of the public how to provide initial help to a person who is developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem, or in a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until appropriate professional help is received, or the crisis resolves.COVID-19 has presented immense challenges for the community, and the continued dissemination of their evidence-based courses into the community has never been more important.

The Position

Under the direction of the Director Research & Curriculum, the Curriculum Manager will manage a small team of learning and development professionals across a range of training programs to develop and produce creative and effective learning content using contemporary learning and development practices. You will write and produce learning content in various formats, including digital for diverse population groups, ensuring that learning outcomes are met.

The Curriculum Manager will use instructional design principles to establish quality standards for the design and implementation of various learning methods.

Key responsibilities:

  • Use project management methodologies to scope and develop learning activities
  • Effectively translate research and evaluation into suitable materials
  • Design and write learning content using various styles
  • Assess the quality of all learning content developed by ensuring that the learning needs have been met
  • Identify external learning and development initiatives or strategic opportunities

The Person

With a commitment to evidence-based practice in mental health, you have:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Mental Health, Adult Learning, Human Resource Management (or another relevant discipline), or equivalent work experience
  • Project management experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the development and delivery of adult education curriculum materials
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of learning theories and andragogy, instructional design and contemporary learning and development practices
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of mental illnesses and mental health services
