As the Child Protection and Participation Lead - Asia-Pacific Regional Office (APRO), you lead and advise the Asia Pacific Regional Office on Child Protection & Participation issues, including technical programming, safeguarding and external positioning.

The role has four core areas of focus:

  • Represent and lead World Vision Asia-Pacific Regional Office (APRO) on strategic child protection & participation networks, engaging as ‘thought leader’ and ‘technical expert’ with priority stakeholders (e.g., UNICEF, ASEAN, Joining Forces, etc.).
  • Provide technical advisory support and guidance to APRO and Field Offices on current and emerging Child Protection issues and Child Protection Minimum Requirements, the Operational Requirements on Child Participation in World Vision (WV) Decision-Making, promising programming and advocacy practices, and lessons learned (this may include the establishment of a ‘Regional Knowledge Hub’ and/or ‘Community of Practice).
  • Serve as a business partner to National offices on World Vision International’s Safeguarding Management Policy implementation and ensure compliance with organisations' expectations for keeping all children and adults in WV programming areas safe from exploitation and abuse by WV employees and affiliates.
  • Lead and initiate Child Protection & Child Participation-related initiatives to build regional collaboration (research, advocacy, programming) and positioning.

Requirements include:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Social Work, International Development, Child Development or related field.
  • Strong technical expertise in child protection, including child marriage, trafficking and participation.
  • Five years of project management experience in an international NGO
  • Highly developed external engagement and networking skills
  • Strong project management skills, including experience with research and development of programming models.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • The position requires availability and willingness to travel nationally or internationally up to 30% of the time for fieldwork.
