Jewish Care Victoria, a not-for-profit organisation, is the largest provider of aged and community services for the Jewish Community in Victoria. Services include Aged Residential Care, Assessment Referral and Individual Support Services, Community Aged Care, Disability, Mental Health, Youth and Family Services and Holocaust Survivors Programs.

We are now seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Program Manager with experience in managing social, affordable and disability housing to join the Individual and Family Services Division. Leading a small team of Property & Tenancy workers, the role will not only offer management and supervisory support but will contribute and lead the strategic planning for housing development and enhancement. This position is full time and based at Jewish Care’s new Hannah and Daryl Cohen Family building at St Kilda Road. The Program Manager role is one of four PMs in the Individual & Family Services Division.   

The key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Provide leadership, direction and support to the Property and Tenancy program
  • Continue to grow each team member’s capacity to respond to vulnerable tenancy/residency groupings as well as the diverse and changing housing needs of the Jewish Community
  • Develop and lead Jewish Care’s Housing Strategy
  • Develop a deep understanding of the housing needs of the community and the cultural/religious barriers that limit participation and use this understanding to advocate for funding and change

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social services  
  • At least 5 years’ experience working within the housing sector and leading teams
  • A strong desire to work with vulnerable individuals and their families
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation for the management of leases across social and affordable housing, rooming houses and SDAs
  • Advanced collaboration and consultation skills & knowledge of practice frameworks that incorporate strength-based and social justice perspectives.
