Role Overview

As a Philanthropy Executive, you will contribute to and increase philanthropic giving to JDRF by building and maintaining relationships with donors and potential givers. You will be accountable for the delivery of significant revenue via Major Donors, Trusts & Foundations and Bequests. You will be proactive with lead generation and qualification; solicitation will be executed through personalised, high-touch experiences and content.

You will report directly to the Head of Philanthropy. You will support our team as we enhance the strategy and experience for our major donors, resulting in higher retention and engagement.

This role may be required to undertake interstate travel plus occasional flexible working during evenings and weekends.

  • You are highly organised, including the development of work plans with tasks, timelines, and responsibilities. You follow through, with diligence. You understand the importance of keeping on schedule and within budget. You know how to bring people together and get things done.

Key Accountabilities

  • Build a robust donor base: you’ll develop and maintain key long-term relationships with donors to achieve income targets, all while delivering an exceptional donor experience.
  • Create joyful giving experiences to encourage individuals to participate at new and increased levels, to involve their networks, and to optimise their lifetime value as investors of JDRF.
  • Come up with innovative ways to show donors the return on their investment.
  • Craft bold, compelling proposals that highlight program and research achievements and explore new opportunities, collaborating with other key department stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships, and the team, to share leads using a “best player plays” approach.
  • Meticulous tracking of relationships and activity within Salesforce.

Selection Criteria

  • Experience in relationship management in Not-For-Profit, ideally Major Gifts.
  • Confidence and a track record of ‘making the ask’, gaining commitment for 5-figure+ gifts.
  • Knowledge of fundraising and an ability to apply principles in a practical manner.
  • Strategic mindset and ability to connect our mission to larger strategic goals.
  • A team orientation and strong work ethic that continually strives for excellence.
  • An incredible passion for our mission that invigorates and excites everyone with whom you engage.
  • Outstanding attention to detail; proactive approach, taking accountability for outcomes.
  • Experience and proficiency in using a CRM system, preferably Salesforce NPSP.
  • Accountable, responsible, and driven individual with sound judgement and problem-solving capabilities who can work autonomously and as a member of a wider team.
