The role details:

We are looking for an Educational Leader who is an energetic, passionate and practical professional. You will lead the development and implementation of intentional play-based learning program at our OSHC service at Pullenvale State School, in Pullenvale, South West Brisbane.   • Our children love being outdoors and engaging in nature. We have a large nature area where the children love making cubbies, gardening and exploring the natural world around them.
  • Our children are ACTIVE and enjoy sports, group games, dancing and yoga.
  • Our FREE FLOW program supports children to be creative and have opportunity to express themselves and make choices to support their own well-being.
  • Our children love FOOD and enjoy participating in our Kids Cafe cooking experiences.
  • We are deeply involved with the school community, supporting Prep teachers, prep transition, fundraising and supporting the school community.

The finer details:

  • The role is 38 hours per week full-time. You will be working 32.5 hours per week contact (in ratio) and 5.5 hours per week for non-contact time. Flexibility with your non-contact time, to be worked at times negotiated between yourself and the Service Manager.
  • Have more flexibility during the day! You will be working split shifts (6am to 9am & 2.30pm to 6pm) Monday to Friday during school terms.
  • For school holidays, you can be flexible with which shift you work, but you need to be available to work between the operating hours of 6am and 6pm.
  • You must be qualified and have completed a Diploma or equivalent qualification and be experienced working in school age care or early childhood to take on this leadership position. You will act as the Person in Day to Day Charge, when required in the absence of the Service Manager and during the school holidays, working opposite shifts to the Service Manager.
  • Our service is free flowing and energetic. You need to thrive on the energy of a vibrant service, where the children take the lead and be keen to support the Service Manger to build attendances. We have a licence capacity of 94.

Who we're looking for:

We are looking for a child care, children's services, education or related professional who is:

  • Experienced as an effective, wise and knowledgeable practitioner providing leadership in a school age care service.
  • Motivated by the challenge of supporting the Service Manager to manage a vibrant and quality service.
  • Skilled in communicating (verbal and written) and collaborating with families, professionals, community members and fellow staff members.
  • Able to prepare and implement high quality, innovative, developmentally appropriate programs in school age care, and to include children and families in this process.
  • Able to develop strong relationships with children, parents and the school community.
  • Understands the processes and skills required to engage children in contributing to their own unique experience of community.

You will need:

  • An approved Diploma level qualification in children’s services, education or equivalent qualification.
  • A current Paid Employee Working with Children Check Blue Card, current first aid, CPR and asthma and anaphylaxis management qualifications.
  • Qualified and experienced to act as the Educational Leader and Person in Day to Day Charge.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Education and Care National Law 2010, Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011, National Quality Framework, National Quality Standards and Learning Framework My Time Our Place.
  • Effective computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft office suite products, childcare management software (QikKids) and preferable knowledge of workforce management system Human Force.
  • At least 12 months experience in leadership in a school age care, child care or related environment.
