Who is IUIH?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) leads the development, planning and delivery of comprehensive primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in South East Queensland. We have been nationally acknowledged for providing Australia’s first Indigenous Fever Clinic in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Family Health and Wellbeing team is responsible for supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in South East Queensland with the following services: Legal, Social health, Birthing and early childhood (BiOC and ANFPP), Early Childhood education (Deadly Kindies) Family Wellbeing, Paediatric Occupational and Speech patholog

About the Role?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Speech Pathologist to join the IUIH team within a paediatric or mixed adult and paediatric caseload. In this role, you will be providing individual therapy and/or group programs designed to support clients through developmental programs and SP interventions as needed.

Opportunities available for experienced professionals and recent graduates. We have locations available for Brisbane and Gold Coast region as well as permanent and fixed term positions.

What does it look like to be an IUIH Speech Pathologist? 

  • Work collaboratively within an interprofessional team of health care professionals
  • Access to culturally tailored, evidence based assessment tools exclusive to the IUIH network and delivered in a “Yarn” based approach
  • Provide a variety of clinic based and home visiting service delivery
  • Capability to develop both Adult and Paediatric skills by maintaining a caseload across the entire lifespan
  • Group based program involvement e.g. Homework group with the capacity to develop and implement further programs
  • A rare opportunity to work collaboratively with our Deadly Kindies team providing hands on support

What’s needed to be successful?

  • Current QLD Drivers Licence
  • Current Blue Card and Disability Worker Screening Check ( must have prior to commencement 
  • Current Criminal History Check
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
  • Current Speech Pathology Membership
  • Relevant degree in Speech Pathology
  • Must have at least Dose 1 of the Covid-19 vaccine prior to commencement
