About Us?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinate and integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the South East Qld Region. The IUIH network includes 20 primary health care clinics, all providing comprehensive primary health and related care, delivered by high quality multidisciplinary teams.

Moreton Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Health Service (MATSICHS) is committed to providing holistic health care to improve the health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Moreton Bay area. We have clinics across the Moreton Bay region including locations at Caboolture, Morayfield, Deception Bay, Margate and Strathpine.

About the Role?

We are seeking an experienced General Practitioner who is looking for a leadership opportunity. You will play an integral role within our IUIH MATSICHS team, working alongside the Practice Manager and the multidisciplinary care team, supporting the growth, development and continuous improvement of comprehensive primary health care services. This includes:

  • Providing comprehensive GP services in line with accepted best practice clinical standards, and in keeping with the IUIH cultural integrity investment framework (“The Ways”)
  • Providing clinical leadership for the multidisciplinary team of health professionals
  • Overseeing a program of quality assurance and continuous quality improvement
  • Providing mentoring and supervision for medical students, GP registrars, early career GPs, and other health professionals
  • Contributing to ongoing development and improvement of services and service systems across the IUIH Network through regional lead clinician forums and clinical governance committee
  • Working closely with the Clinical Director, Practice Manager and service team to anticipate and identify opportunities for expanding the volume and scope of services available to the community, in response to identified need

About You?

  • Vocational Registration as a Specialist GP
  • Unconditional AHPRA Registration
  • Post-graduate experience in a comprehensive primary health care setting
  • Current Medical Indemnity Insurance
  • Current CPR certificate
  • Must have at least Dose 1 of the Covid-19 vaccine prior to commencement

Desirable, but not mandatory:

  • Previous experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
