Who are we looking for?

You are a self-motivated individual who has a passion to work on local and international emergency and development projects to support positive change. The position requires you to be results-focused with an ability to plan and deliver towards objectives. You need to be passionate about developing projects and taking them through the project cycle. You have the ability to cultivate and maintain effective teamwork and collaborative relationships. It is crucial that you have a highly ethical and respectful attitude towards the organisation’s values and culture, its staff and volunteers and all stakeholders.

The post holder is accountable for fulfilling his or her roles and responsibilities in line with Islamic values and principles of fairness, humanity, honesty, respect and fair treatment of his/her colleagues and staff.

The role may require you work with flexibility, including willingness to work outside office hours as the role requires and to travel internationally and domestically as required.

Job Purpose:

  • To work closely with the Program Director and Program Coordinator in developing IRAUS Programs based on our strategic priorities primarily for Australia and some focus internationally.
  • Ability to deliver, monitor and evaluate the programs undertaken.
  • To work closely with the Program Coordinator in developing humanitarian and development projects in Australia and across the Middle East, Africa and South Asia and Asia Pacific; ensuring programmatic coherency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and manage local and international programs
  • Support in project management (including financial management)
  • Development of relevant programming tools, guidance and procedures
  • Capacity building and technical advice
  • Compliance, risk and audit
  • Quality and accountability including monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning
  • Communications and advocacy
  • Report preparation

The Successful Candidate must have:

  • Qualified to a degree level, ideally in International Development or related field.
  • At least 2 years’ experience of working with international or local programs in an NGO setting.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in program development, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Experience of conducting needs assessments.
  • Experience in grant making will be considered favourably, particularly previous experience in successfully securing institutional funds and working with institutional donors.
  • Previous experience working within the ACFID code of conduct is desirable and previous experience with the Department of Foreign Affairs ANCP program will be highly regarded.
  • Knowledge and understanding of local and international program implementation.
  • Knowledge of the charity sector.
