The Opportunity

Join our Wellbeing and Counselling Team in the delivery of quality services to contribute to the achievement of our objectives and strategic priorities. Support our clients by providing information, advice, assistance, recovery assistance and advocacy to people experiencing or vulnerable to financial difficulty and gambling harm.

This position is classified as a Financial Counsellor SL5P4 $44.88 per hour under the Community Health Centre (Stand Alone Services) Social and Community Service Employees Multi Enterprise Agreement 2017, until 30th June 2022.

You will make a difference by

  • providing a responsive first point of contact and support for the service
  • providing quality financial counselling services to people experiencing financial difficulty consistent with the Gambler’s Help program framework
  • assessment of client financial situation and need, providing information about the range of financial support options available and facilitating referrals to internal or external services
  • using expertise and skills to competently provide debt advice, advocacy, and assistance including creditor negotiation and bankruptcy advice
  • providing financial counselling and support to individuals, families, and affected others to manage financial-related issues and maintain positive behaviour changes
  • promoting collaborative shared care planning and treatment that respects personal goals and consistency of practice contributing to quality service improvement leading to improved success for our teams and clients

To succeed, you will need

  • Qualification in Financial Counselling with registration and/or professional membership
  • current Victorian driver’s licence
  • minimum two-year experience in the financial sector
  • demonstrated experience and skills in delivering services with a range of complex issues, clinical assessment, planning and implementation, and service intervention
  • demonstrated ability of intake assessment and referral facilitation
