About The Role

The Rapid Response Team (RRT) is an initiative by Department of Health and Human Services to prevent, respond to and limit outbreaks of coronavirus. We have an exciting newly created position as a Bicultural Inclusion Worker to join our RRT ! Within this position, you will be key to enhancing the provision of community services to clients from CALD communities who present for COVID testing at the RRT sites.

Collaborating closely with the Community Engagement Officer and other RRT members, you will -

  • Assist with community engagement initiatives working with the local CALD community that is culturally appropriate and in the relevant language.
  • Provide education and promoting awareness around safe practices relating to COVID-19 and other services.
  • Required to travel as part of the RRTT, to testing sites (eg. Pop up RRTT sites in shopping centres, factories, schools etc across Melbourne), to engage with community, undertake basic needs assessment to identify any barriers, challenges or need for referrals to relevant services.
  • Conducting follow ups with clients after testing, to ensure maximum engagement in improving health and wellbeing.
  • Be flexible to respond to outbreaks quickly and efficiently as needed.
  • Have established community networks within the identified LGAs to assist the community's needs.

There are multiple positions available requiring specific language skills within the LGA to assist the community, including -

  • Afghan – Dandenong
  • South Sudanese – Dandenong/ Wyndham/ Melton
  • Indian – Dandenong/ Wyndham/ Hume

This position is classified as Social and Community Services Employee Level 1 Paypoint 4 under the Community Health Centre (Stand Alone Services) Social And Community Service Employees Multi Enterprise Agreement 2017.

About You

  • You will be a strong communicator with the ability to speak one or more languages.
  • Through your working experience, you will demonstrate knowledge in contemporary issues that vulnerable people and communities experience within a COVID-19 setting
  • Through your high level of interpersonal and communication skills, you possess the ability to articulate and explain complex ideas in culturally relevant and accessible ways, as well as relaying feedback to key stakeholders.
  • You will have strong advocacy skills and the ability to build effective relationships.
  • Hold a current and valid Victorian driver's licence and Working With Children's Check.

The position requires candidates to be able to speak one or more of these languages: Dinka, Afghan Arabic, Pashto, Dari, Hindi and Punjabi.
