The aim of this role is to lead a community research project focused on improving the service supports for children and their families living in social housing, particularly in the First 1000 Days of a child's life.

In partnership with the Murdoch Children's Research Institute, the Community Research Officer will work in participatory and collaborative way with families living in social housing and local service providers to undertake an action research project.

This project will focus on building understanding of the impacts that living in social housing can have on early child health and
development and to develop and test new approaches to improve outcomes.

Ideally, you will possess:

  • A professional qualification in Relevant tertiary qualification (Community Development, Social Work, Social Science or Other Health or Human Services with relevant experience)
  • Experience of working in Community Engagement for minimum 3 years
  • Demonstrated ability to lead community research projects, deliver community consultation and engagement processes to work with diverse communities including Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities
  • Excellent knowledge of Codesign principles and their practical application. The principles of the First 1000 Days Theory
  • A clear understanding of Trauma-informed practice, Research methodology and the social determinants of health and how to apply this
    knowledge in practice
