Junior Software Engineer - Full-Stack Development - Flexible Location

Ironbark Sustainability

With increasing implementation of smart lighting technology, Ironbark is set to support councils across Australia to make use of this emerging technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance smart city outcomes.

A key component of our future support for councils will be the analysis and interpretation of an ever-increasing reservoir of smart cities data collected from IoT devices. Through our support, we aim to present relevant data in easy to understand formats so that our clients are able to:

  • Make informed decisions about how resources are allocated
  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
  • Improve asset management processes
  • Improve service delivery to residents and visitors of local council areas

The Junior Software Engineer is responsible for supporting the street lighting team in three core areas:

a) Front End Development – Using HTML, CSS and JS to build reusable frontend solutions that deliver value to councils/users. Responsible for delivering robust front-end code.

b) Back End Development – Extending database solutions, configuration and API calls to support front-end requirements. Responsible for delivering robust back-end code.

c) Technical Growth – Working with other technical staff to recognise new opportunities for the tools we build and the technologies we work with.

Other tasks may include the design of web maps for clients, data analytics as well as work on Ironbark’s digital asset base to directly support clients in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in close collaboration with our climate team.
