We have almost 60 years’ experience providing services to people experiencing marginalisation, disadvantage, social isolation and homelessness and have a non-judgmental ‘open door’ service approach to our community.

About the role

You will provide essential administrative support to the Fundraising & Communications Manager with a primary focus on communication with donors and supporters – but, over time, you will have the opportunity to be exposed to, and be involved in, a wide range of fundraising activities. This will include:

  • Database Management including data entry and management of donor details, recording of donations and assisting with data cleansing, segmentation and reporting
  • Donor support – processing donations, issuing receipts, preparing thank you notes and other correspondence to donors and partners/supporters for approval by the Fundraising & Communications Manager
  • Answering email or phone enquiries from donors, partners and other stakeholders
  • Assisting with marketing and promotion of fundraising activities
  • Supporting gift in kind and material donations processes including donor liaison
  • Collecting and collating information for reports
  • Event and community fundraising support as directed by the Fundraising & Communications Manager

Key requirements

Ideally, you will have previous donor support experience and knowledge and experience of fundraising databases (knowledge of Donman will be an advantage). You also possess:

  • Effective administrative and data entry skills and a high level of computer literacy
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – with well-developed interpersonal skills enabling you to develop and maintain effective and productive working relationships with others
  • A high level of organisational ability to juggle multiple tasks to deadlines and with limited resources
  • A strong customer service orientation and a willingness to pitch in and help others
  • A values-based approach to work aligned with the mission of St Mary’s House of Welcome

We are looking for an engaged, vibrant, helpful and proactive person who has a preference for part-time work and who has the availability to also help out after hours from time to time on fundraising events (only a few times a year).
