This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Trainee Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of families and providing a child inclusive mediation practice.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are currently seeking applicants to fill a vacancy for a Trainee Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP).

This position with direct supervision will undertake on the job training through the completion of the Trainee FDRP Clinical Governance Framework. The role is required to observe and assist qualified FDRPs in their provision of family dispute resolution and mediation services; including intake assessments, the development of case plans and parenting agreements as well as child inclusive practice under the jurisdiction of the Family Law Act.

This position has been identified as a role requiring a First Nations worker to work closely with the local community and support the Organisation through the provision of information and advice related to working with First Nations communities.

This is a permanent full time role working 37.5 hours per week. Ongoing employment in this role is based upon the successful completion of successfully gaining relevant tertiary qualifications and accreditation with the Attorney General's Department as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Eligibility to enrol in an approved dispute resolution/mediation/conciliation course that leads to qualification as a registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner

In addition to the minimum qualifications, we are looking for candidates with strong capabilities in Conflict Management, Interpersonal Skills, Communication and Relationship skills and Ethics.

This role will be based at our Dubbo Family Relationship Centre, and may be required to work across multiple sites within the Western region. Due to the travel required for this role, where is pool car is not available it will require the use of your own personal vehicle, all kilometres will be reimbursed when using your own personal vehicle.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Aboriginality or Torres Strait Islander background (Interrelate considers that being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational qualification under section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW)
  2. Eligibility to enrol in an approved dispute resolution/mediation/conciliation course that leads to qualification as a registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner
  3. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of:
  4. the impact of family separation and breakdown on children
  5. child development, child protection, mandatory reporting, suicide prevention/ intervention and family violence issues
  6. the issues facing diverse communities, including ATSI, CALD and remote communities
  7. Demonstrated experience and skills in:
  8. interpersonal communication and written skills
  9. administration and organisation skills
  10. working with online systems and technology
