The Position

Interchange is seeking experienced, knowledgeable, Support Workers to join our Independent Living Options Team in Canning Vale. We are looking for a special group of passionate peers to support a 21-year-old who has muscular dystrophy. Supports are delivered to develop skills and capacity to maintain independent living, keeping customers engaged in a healthy and safe lifestyle. These supports include daily living, personal care and hygiene, participation in the community and customers specific interests. Support workers must have knowledge of the National Disability Service Standards, experience in the disability sector, mental health, and recovery. Experience of supporting someone with behaviours of concern and working in partnership through mentoring and a recovery approach is essential.

You will be a part of a dynamic team that can work autonomously and can demonstrate initiative, good leadership skills and problem-solving ability.

The successful candidates will have:

  • Certificate III or IV in Disability, Mental Health and/or experience working with people with disabilities
  • Have experience with challenging behaviour and positive behaviour supports
  • knowledge of the National Disability Service Standards
  • Desire to work within our Organisation's Mission, Vision and Values
  • Be experienced and comfortable in personal care
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both autonomously, and within a team environment
  • Excellent problem solving, organisational and time management skills
  • Flexible availability throughout the week, including some nights and weekends
  • WA 'C' class driver's licence, and own vehicle
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening

The Details

This positions will be employed at a Level 2 (Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (the “Modern Award”) and conditions under the National Employment Standards (“NES”).
