What we are looking for:

Interchange is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Support Worker to provide leadership and mentoring for other Support Workers, working in mini teams who support our complex customers.

This role will be providing direct support to people to help achieve their goals. Supporting and supervising teams to develop and maintain quality services, liaising with families and key stakeholders as required.

  • Delivering person-centred supports to our customers in line with NDIS Plan’s budget, goals and outcomes.
  • Adopting positive role modelling in all aspects of work.
  • Coaching and mentoring the team through the delivery of our L&D strategy.
  • Build appropriate, strong relationships with Interchange, the people we support and their families.
  • Provide regular feedback to stakeholders and written updates as instructed by management on the progress of the people you support in achieving their goals and outcomes.
  • Create and adhere to plans that are in place for the people we support.

The Details

  • Flexible to work in different Interchange locations.
  • Permanent Part time position with availability to work Monday to Friday, including occasional evenings and weekends, if required
  • Level 3 of the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (the “Modern Award”) and conditions under the National Employment Standards (“NES”).

What do you need to apply?

  • Qualification in Mental Health or Disability (eg Certificate IV) AND/OR minimum 2 years’ experience in mental health.
  • A sound understanding and experience of the Positive Behaviour Support Model and applied knowledge of restrictive practices and be able to demonstrate situational awareness.
  • Experience in supporting people with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, autism, OCD and trauma.
  • Experience in providing leadership, supervision and support within complex support teams.
  • Possess a reliable roadworthy vehicle and be willing to use it for work-related activities reimbursable under the Modern Award.
  • Possess a ‘smart’ mobile phone and be willing to use it for work-related purposes.
  • Computer Literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite and smart device applications.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with an ability to actively seek creative solutions to overcome problems.
  • Current WA ‘C’ class driver’s license and capacity to travel as needed within the Greater Perth Metropolitan area.
  • NDIS Worker Screening clearance
