Child & Family Services Ballarat (Cafs) is a community service organisation that provides a range of programs and services to children, young people and families who are vulnerable or in need of support. Cafs has a long history of supporting families within the Ballarat region and currently have part time and casual opportunities available for Residential Care Workers to work within their purpose built Residential Care houses.
If you are seeking a position where you can have a positive influence on the quality of life for young people, this role is for you. Your ability to role model appropriate behaviours, along with your caring nature, high level communication skills and problem-solving abilities will ensure that you will have a positive impact with the young people in the residential care facilities. You’ll need to demonstrate resilience, a collaborative approach, the ability to remain calm under pressure and in conflict situations as well as being culturally aware.
To be a Residential Care Worker, you’ll need to have completed or be enrolled to complete a Cert IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential and Out of Home Care) or a relevant qualification and be willing to complete a top up of mandatory units. Further information on relevant qualifications and mandatory units can be downloaded below. You will need to hold a current Level 2 First Aid and CPR qualification prior to commencing in this role.
Cafs Enterprise Agreement provides significant family-friendly benefits above the award, including generous salary packaging (full-time and part-time only), additional special paid leave over Christmas and New Year, additional one week annual leave for Residential Care Workers who are rostered to work 10 or more Saturdays or Sundays over a twelve month period, purchase up to 4 weeks additional leave per year and generous personal/carer leave provisions.
