Wellbeing, safety and respect for all children and families is the Cafs (Child and Family Services) vision. An independent, community owned and governed not-for-profit with no religious affiliations, Cafs provide services throughout the Ballarat, Hepburn, Moorabool, Ararat, Golden Plains and Pyrenees regions. Delivering a comprehensive range of programs to support children, families and individuals, their key services focus on early help and prevention, targeted support and ongoing assistance.

Cafs is a specialist provider of Men’s perpetrator and Child wellbeing services within The Orange Door. This role is responsible for leading the service response to support the Men’s Behaviour Change program and Child wellbeing. You will be responsible for ensuring minimum standards are met and that practice is aligned to contemporary family violence expectations and legislation.

You will be actively involved in the oversight and management of The Orange Door services within the Central Highlands region with the flexibility to work across multiple locations to support your team. The Orange Door is a partnership CAFS has with Family Safety Victoria, BADAC, Child Protection and Berry Street and this role will support the collaborative partnership with all stakeholders.

Your key deliverables will include:

  • Overseeing and managing the CAFS Family Violence program, both voluntary and mandatory service ensuring program objectives are delivered in line with compliance standards.
  • Oversight and leadership of CAFS Child Wellbeing Program and Men’s Intake Services at all sites.
  • Providing supervision and support to 8 direct reports
  • Develop and lead the Cafs Family Violence Committee and work collaboratively with The Orange Door partners
  • Ensure compliance to minimum standards, frameworks and legislation
  • Active member of the Cafs Leadership Team
  • Oversight and monitoring of Program Budgets and Spending

A Bachelor level qualification in Social Work, Welfare, Psychology or relevant field, with substantial post graduate experience is required for this position, along with a proven background in leading, supervising and supporting staff.

You will need to demonstrate your ability to lead in sometimes complex and demanding situations while remaining considered, accountable and resilient. This role is all about relationships, hence you’ll demonstrate warmth, energy, a positive outlook and be able to connect with others. A significant component of the role is compliance focused and requires well-developed skills in organising, planning, problem solving and a systems focus.
