About the role:

The role is integral in maintaining effective communication with Independence Australia’s Disability Support Workers (DSWs) and consumers from an internal and external perspective. With a strong focus on consumer engagement, this position will be designated point of contact for all management of consumers requiring direct support services. The role will require the person to operate within Independence Australia’s organisational policies and procedures remaining compliant with that of the Disability Guidelines, DHHS, NDIA and TAC.

Selection Criteria:

  • Previous experience in rostering and coordinating support services to people requiring direct support services
  • Well-developed skills in the use of an electronic consumer/staff management and rostering system e.g. Carelink+
  • Previous experience in supporting DSW’s and providing them with detailed advice and support to deliver shift tasks and programs within an appropriate support plan
  • Empathy and an ability to establish an engaged, mutually respectful but professional relationship with all consumers/participants and their respective family members
  • Ability to establish cooperative approach towards consumer/participants and direct support workers, to be responsive to consumer/participants and staff feedback, performance improvement and occupational health and safety requirements
  • Experience and / or knowledge of Individual Support Programs within Disability services field
  • An understanding of the In-Home individual care sector is well regarded
  • Strong computer skills, (Microsoft Office)
  • A pro-active attitude, a high degree of initiative and a positive approach to life
  • An ethical approach to the achievement of personal targets and general conduct in dealings with consumers and IA consumers
  • Emotional intelligence with the ability to be in tune with consumer expectations and to be responsive to a range of diverse consumer/participants needs
  • The desire to perform the job functions with the highest levels of professionalism and integrity, and the ability to always represent the organisation in a positive light

Qualifications:

  • Min Certificate III/IV in Disability, Community Services or equivalent or a willingness to undertake this qualification 

Desirable:

  • Practical experience in providing in home supports
  • A current Drivers License
