Inala Community House operates a number of programs including two child protection services in Out of Home Care and Family Intervention.

About the Role

This role is within the Family Intervention Service. It is a full-time management position with a fixed term contract running until December 2021 (concurrent with funding).

In this rewarding and diverse role, you will have the opportunity to improve the lives of children and families who have come to the attention of the Department of Child Safety Youth and Women.

You will achieve this by leading a dynamic, passionate, small team and mentor them in their roles. You will support staff to assist parents to either reunify with their children who are currently in care, or to prevent children from entering the care system.

In this role, whilst your days will be varied, they will include:

  • Attendance at a range of stakeholder, Departmental (including Team Leader and Management meetings) and networking meetings
  • Supporting and mentoring staff to provide in home intervention with the families
  • Undertaking complex cases
  • Communicating with a variety of stakeholders including liaising with the Department to negotiate funding arrangements and requirements
  • Undertaking quality assurance processes and regular audits to ensure compliance with funding requirements and best practice
  • Providing regular reports in accordance with organisational, auditing and funding requirements
  • Data collection and analysis
  • Managing client-related expenses budget

You will be responsible for leading the Family Intervention Service and ensuring that services provided are high-quality, efficient and compliant with all required standards. This is a small Service where you can manage the service whilst also being able to participate in the frontline operations of the Service in supporting families.

In this role, you will work closely with the Out of Home Care Service and provide support to this Service as needed. This will include providing on-call support on a regular basis (additional allowances will be provided for this).

In return you will receive $44.32 - $46.27 per hour (subject to experience) + super, flexible working hours by negotiation, access to generous salary packing and emergent training (such as Parenting under Pressure accreditation). You will also be part of a diverse community organisation where you can learn about, interact with and participate in our other services including NDIS, Community Engagement and Out of Home Care.

About you

  • You are passionate about the care and protection of children and acknowledge that all people have the capacity to change.
  • You are creative and able to mentor staff in using a variety of approaches to engage, sometimes with difficult clients.
  • You are able to provide support to the team and have the knowledge and ability to run the Service with limited guidance.
  • You will have a minimum of five years’ experience in the child protection sector and an understanding of the Child Protection Act 1999, frameworks and practice manual.
  • You will have a minimum of two years management experience, preferably in the child protection sector.
  • You will have a current blue card, be willing to undergo an LCS2 check, have a current QLD drivers licence and a relevant degree from a recognised tertiary institution.
