ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

Impact Seed is a proud B-Corp and Western Australia’s peak market builder for impact investment, impact measurement & social enterprise. Since 2015 we have supported impact businesses, government, not-for-profits, foundations and family offices in building, articulating and investing in purpose driven businesses and projects, bridging investment and philanthropy.

In building the impact investment sector in Western Australia, our work has largely been based on three pillars of market development:

  1. Cross Sector Network Development – Including development of resources, papers and advocacy and facilitating the emergence of new collectives, alliances, and communities of practice (enterprise, finance, measurement)
  2. Training and Education – Developing cross sector investor and investee literacy through workshops and programs
  3. One to One Project Development and Consulting – Building investment readiness, undertaking impact management projects and bespoke social enterprise development support

ABOUT THE ROLE

Impact Seed is looking for a passionate innovator with practical business skills to fill the new role of Social Enterprise Business Consultant.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Impact Investment Manager to directly identify and support community activation, business mentoring, training and hands-on practical development support for new and existing social entrepreneurs, as well as new and existing businesses which want to help achieve positive social impacts in the social impact areas we focus.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential:

  • At least 3-5 years’ experience starting and growing a business
  • Experience in cross cultural settings and knowledge of the WA not-for-profit and startup ecosystem
  • Practical business skills (customer engagement, business planning, budgeting, presentations, sales & marketing, social media)
  • Strong communication skills – both verbal and written, ideally in a multiple stakeholder engagement setting
  • Understanding of supply chains and markets

Desired:

  • Understanding of social impact and social entrepreneurship and the WA context
  • Community activation experience
  • Experience training and facilitating workshops
  • Financial and business modelling
  • Grant, funding applications
  • Knowledge and experience with contracts and contract reviews
  • Event management experience
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant problem-solving or systems-thinking discipline, eg. Business, Public Policy, Law, or equivalent,

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Practical one on one support for new and existing social enterprises qualified by Impact Seed through an intake/EOI process
  • Leading and supporting fee for service client engagements
  • Communication and liaison with social enterprise and not-for-profit stakeholders
  • Identification, aligning and connecting social venture founders with appropriate partners and support programs
  • Designing, facilitating and participating in information sessions and workshops
  • Development of grant, sponsorship and funding opportunities, and strategic partnerships
  • Communication and liaison with partners, sponsors and funders
  • Identification, aligning and connecting social venture founders with appropriate partners and support programs

NEXT STEPS

  • Expected start date is ASAP
  • Contract or employment with remuneration of $75K FTE
  • This position will require flexibility and responsiveness to often demanding timelines. However flexible working arrangements can be negotiated, including working from home
