ABOUT CONSCIOUS GROUND AUSTRALIA

We are a registered charity and certified organic farm for the advancement of education and the natural environment. Our vision is to Awaken our limitless potential through regenerative agriculture and holistic food. Working with small scale diversified regenerative agriculture and animal systems, working with nature and giving back to the land whilst producing nutrient-dense food to feed and educate our crew of staff and volunteers from our internal Kitchen and Food Design team.

We focus on diversity in all aspects from our soil to plants to our food growing systems (and people!), we have our thriving orchards with hundreds of citrus trees and many varieties of tropical fruit, our syntropic system is full of bananas, cassava, papaya as well as our food forests with jaboticabas, custard apples, soursops, black sapote, jackfruit and so much more!

With our main food production system being our market garden, currently over 2 acres with 144 annual beds and 18 perennial tree rows. Growing a diverse range of produce appropriate for our subtropical climate for our internal kitchen and education purposes with our surplus supplied to the local community.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a talented, self-driven, and motivated Harvest Assistant who will be responsible for the harvest duties, assisting with the harvest schedule, grading and selection for internal and external sales with our internal Kitchen being the primary customer.

This role will support all teams to know what’s ready to harvest, what’s coming soon, assisting with data entry, record keeping and communication to our Kitchen and external customers. The Harvest Assistant will assist the weekly farm to kitchen harvest walkthrough of our various food growing systems with the Farm Team Leaders and Kitchen Team Leaders and assist with implementing processes and systems to develop the Harvest and Sales processes to ensure consistency and efficiency in all aspects.

YOU WILL HAVE

  • Completion of Higher School Certificate
  • Certificate IV in Business Sales or equivalent desired, not required
  • Certificate III Food Safety & Handling Supervisor Certification (desired)
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Harvesting
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Customer Relationship Management
  • Sound knowledge in organic farming systems
  • Intermediate computer skills with experience using Google Drive, MS Office suite
  • Knowledge or ability to learn to use Xero for invoicing
  • Driver’s licence required
  • Familiarity with regenerative agriculture practices
  • Conscious communication skills and self-driven desire to create a positive impact in the world!

The Harvest Assistant position is a full-time 38 hours per week role, 12 months fixed term with an opportunity to extend and grow with our organisation

A full farm to table experience is provided with the food we grow and raise by our Kitchen team including 2 organic catered meals per day (breakfast & lunch), Monday to Friday.

Attractive hourly rate between $20.00 - $23.09 ph + super depending on skills and experience.
