The Indigenous Justice Advocacy Network (IJAN) is a not for profit largely volunteer organisation focussed on legal advocacy and support mainly for Indigenous people in relation to cultural protection, environmental and planning laws with some native title.
IJAN has operated for over 30 years and has done numerous litigations throughout New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria and Queensland.
We’ve seen some significant growth in our workload and as a result, a Legal Assistant position has become available in our office in Lismore, NSW.
This is an encouraging ethical environment where one will receive invaluable experience and training in all aspects of public interest litigation. It will be particularly rewarding for a final year/post graduate law student, a paralegal or similar.
This a voluntary role, however there is a small stipend available plus the potential to be paid costs that may be garnered from successful litigation.
