The IFYS Child Protection Residential Program supports young people between 12 - 17 years of age needing a placement different from family-based care. Our aim is to provide a safe, dependable and nurturing living environment for these young people as they move towards independence.
Our out of home care accommodation programs are seeking Permanent PartTime Residential Youth Workers to start work in the Townsville area as soon as applicants can commence. The Residential Youth Worker role provides casework services and life skill support to young people. This role is integral in assisting young people in their daily living, recreation, learning and community participation. These roles involve shift work- including night shifts and weekends.
The role involves dealing with challenging and complex behaviours so you will need to have a high level of resilience. A down to earth nature and a good sense of humour are also key to this role, in helping you to quickly relate to the young people in care.
To be successful in this role, you will be a team player, have strong written communication and time management skills and you will have tenacity in spades! It is essential that you have that fire in your belly that will see you naturally act as an advocate for young people and ensure that services are relevant, flexible and accessible. We also require workers to have or be able to obtain;
It is a requirement for these roles to have a Certificate IV level qualification in a relevant field. You will need to be working towards this qualification if you have not yet attained it.
