The International Federation for Emergency Medicine (IFEM) leads the development of the highest quality of emergency medical care for all people. Our mission is to advance the growth of high quality emergency medical care through education and standards, to lead the collaboration and networking necessary to establish universal equality in service and care, and to promote the creation and growth of the specialty of emergency medicine in every country. IFEM, a member-based not-for-profit global organisation, is comprised of emergency medicine organisations from 70 countries around the world.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a predominately volunteer run organisation, you will be playing an instrumental role in helping the Board of Directors develop and implement a major gifts strategy and assist IFEM in achieving its mission of advancing emergency medical care throughout the world. With emergency medicine doctors and nurses at the front line of COVID-19 patient care in hospitals across the world, it’s a fantastic opportunity to get involved and use your fundraising skills to make a positive impact on people’s lives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Development and implementation of a major gifts strategy.
  • Selecting major gift prospects for cultivation.
  • Building relationships with major gift prospects.
  • Soliciting donations from major gift donors.
  • Developing an effective major gift donor stewardship strategy.
  • Coordinating the IFEM major gift strategy and communications between prospects and IFEM Communications Manager, Board Members and Secretariat.

Major donor acquisition is a significant skill and experience gap within the organisation, however we are mindful of the time required to develop and implement a major gift strategy, so we are very open to working with someone who can assist with just strategy development and can provide training/guidance for staff and other volunteers so they can effectively manage implementation.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Successful development, implementation, and evaluation of major gift campaigns.
  • Solid data analysis skills with the ability to research, profile, and qualify major gifts prospects.
  • Understand current major gift and fundraising trends, techniques and challenges.
  • Be experienced in building strong and robust relationships.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication.
  • High level of organisation and attention to detail.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, outstanding presentation, influencing and negotiation skills.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge of Australia’s and/or international high net worth individuals, families, and philanthropists including trusts and foundations.
