The Ability Rights Centre (ARC) is looking for lawyers with at least two years’ experience working in the area of criminal law who are willing to be added to our after-hours volunteer roster to provide telephone legal advice to people with cognitive impairment who are in police custody.

The after-hours roster covers shifts between 5pm and 9am Monday to Friday, and 24 hours on weekends and public holidays. Shifts are broken down across the required hours and are allocated subject to a volunteer’s nominated availability.

Eligible applicants will be interviewed over the telephone by the ARC Principal Solicitor and any voluntary position offered will be subject to the completion of induction training and the satisfactory outcome of a criminal record check.

Induction training will be provided in the evening on a date yet to be set. The training can be done remotely.
