The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to protect and assist people affected by conflict and violence and to promote the laws that protect victims of war. An independent, impartial and neutral organisation, the ICRC is based in Switzerland. It employs 20,000 people in 80 countries and is financed mainly by voluntary contributions from governments and national Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. 

The Mission in Canberra is seeking an Online Communications Officer to work full-time (100%) for one year.

The Online Communications Officer develops and implements innovative and proactive communications products and activities in line with the priorities of the Regional Delegation for the Pacific and ICRC’s communication policies.

The successful applicant will have experience in online communications and the development of multimedia content. S/he will have a proven interest in humanitarian affairs and excellent writing, communication, presentation, interpersonal, organisational and computer skills. S/he will hold a university degree or equivalent in a relevant field, such as communications or media production. Knowledge of and / or working experience with the ICRC, or other components of the Red Cross / Red Crescent Movement, is an advantage. Mastery of written and spoken English are essential and an understanding of at least one other relevant language is desirable.
