Independent Community Living Australia (ICLA) is a not-for-profit community organisation delivering personalised support to people with psychosocial, intellectual and other disabilities as well as those seeking support at difficult times in their life. We manage a number of supported residential and mental health support services across the greater Sydney region, promoting people’s independence, active participation and inclusion in the community. About the Role

Our Pathways housing program is designed to support people experiencing mental health issues and homelessness to stabilise their recovery, increase their community engagement and support their individual goals towards independence. The Team Leader develops and facilitates opportunities for community participation, coordinating a team of Community Outreach Workers to provide informal person-centred support that builds capacity and promotes independent living. This part time position is 3 days per week for a 6 month fixed term contract, remunerated at $36.62 per hour in accordance with level 4.1 of SCHDS Award 2010.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing informal person-centred support that builds capacity and promotes independent living, including supporting resident engagement with their formal and informal networks
  • Ensuring accommodation arrangements are in place and that residents are meeting their obligations
  • Coordinating and supporting residents to transition in and out of ICLA properties
  • Fostering a sense of community among pathways residents
  • Developing and facilitating opportunities for community engagement and participation that can be made available to all people who access ICLA services
  • Developing service agreements and supporting goal setting for residents who request ICLA to provide community access (in accordance with NDIS funding)
  • Managing WHS and resident incidents, including plans to appropriately respond to emerging trends or behaviours of concern
  • Building and managing an engaged and accountable team of Community Outreach Workers, including regular feedback & coaching, and coordinating rostering & attendance

About You

Essential: Experience, Qualifications and Personal Attributes

  • Experience working within Social Work or Community Development practice frameworks
  • Tertiary qualification in Human Services field
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience with coaching and rostering a service delivery team.
  • Experience working with people have mental health conditions and /or have experienced homelessness
  • Current NSW driver’s license, police check and first aid certificate.
  • Excellent interpersonal engagement and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with residents, their support networks and external support providers.
  • Project management experience
  • Proven advanced time management skills, attention to detail and process orientation.
  • Demonstrated high-level of discretion and sensitivity in dealing with confidential matters.
  • Customer-focused mindset
