About the Role

The Financial Accountant manages the accounting and financial activities of the organisation within a small Finance team. The role will analyse the economic stability of ICLA and provide financial information to other departments, senior management and the Board, enabling decision making related to long term strategy, budgeting and investments. This is a full time role with a base remuneration of $73,000 per annum.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing periodic profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow reports for the Executive and Board
  • Preparing and submitting BAS return
  • Liaising with the NDIS and service delivery to ensure revenue is administered and collected in a timely manner
  • Reporting on and regularly reviewing budgets and projections of revenue and expenditure and prepare analyses to support long and short-term decision making
  • Maintaining the integrity of financial systems, processes and accounts to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accuracy of information
  • Execute the payroll function
  • Monitoring cash flow and recommend placement of funds in short and longer term deposits and liaises with banks in doing so
  • Working with the CFO to determine strategic plan and budget financial targets
  • Preparing supporting documentation and financial analysis for annual external audit review and certification
  • Providing required financial reports to Government funding departments.
  • Working with the CFO to continuously improve internal control design
  • Advising on the selection and implementation of new IT systems to support the functions of finance as required

About You

Essential:

Experience, Qualifications and Personal Attributes

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting
  • Two or more years’ experience in Accounting
  • Membership of or working towards membership of a professional accounting body
  • Experience working with the NDIS is essential
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Sound experience in MYOB, UKG & Microsoft 365
  • Sound knowledge of end-to-end Payroll processes for Award and rostered workforce
  • Process orientated, with attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and proven record in meeting deadlines
  • Proactive, agile and solution focused
  • Strong financial accuracy
  • Team player
  • High level of discretion and sensitivity in dealing with confidential matters

Desirable

  • Previous experience working in a not for profit organisation
