About the role

The Senior Release Manager - Core Business Systems (CBS) reports into the Director, Technology Enablement and is responsible for the management of the team and technology releases pertaining to the IBA Core Business Systems (CBS). 

This purpose of this role is to ensure that all modules of our IBA Finacle Core Banking system and the external supporting systems including the SharePoint Document Management System (DMS) are meeting the needs of our customers and internal staff. 

The objectives of the roles are to manage key person risk, ensure functional leadership across the CBS Product Team, participate in the management of our contract with Infosys to deliver the Core Business System Software as a Service and delivery of a defined and repeatable release process to continuously improve and mature our systems.

Duties included but not limited to:

  • Lead comprehensive release planning, backlog prioritisation, and coordination with business SME’s, Product Owners and BAU teams.
  • Oversee the full CBS release cycle, ensuring integration with external systems and alignment with business requirements.
  • Provide executive-level status reports on release milestones, risks, and outcomes, including detailed release notes and defect rates.
  • Ensure adherence to the IBA Project Management Gateway and release management procedures throughout the process, developing and implementing additional procedures as required. 
  • Maintain accurate release records in IBA’s ServiceNow instance and ensure dashboards are functional for real-time reporting.
  • Lead the CBS Product Team, managing recruitment, motivation, and performance to meet strategic release goals.
  • Accurately estimate, assign and monitor team resources to align with project timeframes.
  • Oversee key vendor performance and contractual obligations, ensuring service delivery aligns with IBA standards. 
  • Maintain a central repository for CBS system documentation, ensuring it is current, accurate and meets technical standards.
  • Provide technical oversight of the CBS solutions architecture, ensuring it is fit for purpose and support’s IBA’s strategic goals. 
  • Develop and implement strategies for ongoing improvement of release processes and CBS enhancements. 
  • Lead initiatives to drive continuous improvement and ensure that the CBS solution evolves to meet future needs and aligns with IBA’s broader strategic objectives. 
  • Other duties as required.

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Demonstrated experience in technical ownership of a technology platform, including experience with Agile delivery methodology
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
  • Finacle Core Banking System experience or similar system experience owning a complex business critical system
  • Proficiency in building relationships with and managing expectations of stakeholders, both internal and external including key vendors
  • Strong operational and strategic planning skills 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional leadership and team management capabilities
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing operational frameworks and development plans
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to work independently and interact effectively with key stakeholders

Cultural Capability

  • Ability to liaise and communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff.
