Solar Citizens is seeking a passionate individual to provide operations and database support to our dynamic team campaigning to accelerate Australia’s transition to renewable energy.

Reporting to the National Director, the Operations Officer will maintain our supporter database and website, be across all compliance and office requirements, and support our campaigner and digital fundraiser as required. This role would suit someone looking to develop online, fundraising or campaigning skills by working for a small dynamic organisation.

The ideal person for this role will have experience with the needs of small not for profit organisations, great computer skills and fantastic attention to detail. If some but not all of the selection criteria speak to you, then get in touch. You could be the perfect person for the job!

ABOUT SOLAR CITIZENS

Solar Citizens represents the millions of Australian households who are powering their lives with the sun and the vast majority who of Australians who support the transition to renewable energy. We pursue the largest opportunities to bring on-line as much renewable energy- large and small- as quickly as possible to avoid the climate crisis. We are a charity funded by individual and philanthropic donations and our campaigns and activities are people-powered.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintaining our database of supporters
  • Managing regular givers and other donors, including the retention processes, in coordination with the Digital Fundraiser.
  • Assisting with organisational compliance for example the Australian Charities and Not for Profits Commission, Workcover, and relevant State based non profit regulation
  • Uploading and managing content on the Solar Citizens website
  • Filing and organisation of online files, including the Google drive
  • Managing all incoming correspondence and postal and banking duties as required
  • Organising logistics for operational events, eg staff and board retreats.
  • Ensuring financial administration systems are in order (eg Authorize, paypal etc).
  • Recruiting and managing interns and office volunteers (in consultation with the digital campaigner).
  • Providing operational administrative support to the National Director and the Steering Committee
  • Supporting the Digital Campaigner, Digital Fundraiser and Queensland Campaigner as required.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The Campaigns Support Manager:

  • Keeps a sharp eye on detail.
  • Is resilient and adaptive to a fast changing operating environment.
  • Is a self starter with strong initiative.
  • Enjoys collaborating and being a team player.
  • Has basic Content Management Systems (CMS) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database skills or willingness to learn.
  • Has an appreciation of the need to urgently transition Australia’s energy system

Desirable:

  • Experience with the needs of small non-profits

SALARY AND CONDITIONS

This is a three day per week position. Salary is $65000 per year pro rata.

Solar Citizens is a flexible workplace with four weeks’ leave plus one week end-of-year closure.
