We now have an opportunity for a suitably qualified person to commence the role of Household Energy Officer. This position will make a real difference to the Hume community through the development and delivery of a range of energy efficiency and solar projects. Supporting residents' energy literacy and ensuring Hume residents have access to programs delivered by other organisations are also key parts of this position.

Hume City Council serves a diverse and growing population of 224,000 in Melbourne's north. Hume's demographic indicates a high proportion of residents vulnerable to energy bill stress, with this exacerbated by the pandemic. Hume City Council aims to enhance the social, environmental and economic prosperity of the community.

Key Skills:

  • Sound household energy knowledge and experience
  • Community engagement skills to effectively recruit and work with residents vulnerable to bill stress, refugees and new arrivals to Australia and/or people from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Project management skills including leading the development, delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement of community engagement programs
  • Great communication skills to build relationships, partnerships and make complex information easy to access and understand
