about the role

This is an exciting opportunity to influence local government climate change activities with a leading group of Councils.

The Northern Alliance for Greenhouse Action (NAGA) is a network of nine Melbourne councils working together to create a zero-carbon society and provide maximum protection against the impacts of climate change. Our councils are supported in this aim by an Executive Officer and a Project Manager.

NAGA is looking for a Project Manager to develop and deliver successful projects in collaboration with partners and build capacity amongst member councils, as well as building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and delivering workshops and our annual conference.

The position requires a broad understanding of climate change issues that affect Local Government, both from a mitigation and an adaptation perspective.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or other related field, or lesser formal qualifications with work skills and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience in delivering environmental projects and programs (including planning, scoping, resourcing, implementing, monitoring, contract management, and reporting and evaluation).
  • Experience working within Government, preferably Local Government, and/or in the Environmental Sustainability field or other relevant field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of climate change mitigation and adaptation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and professional presentation skills, interpersonal skills and networking skills.
  • Experience working with alliances and networks and reporting to a board or executive committee and demonstrated strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated research skills including data collection, analysis and reporting.
