Please note this advertisement is to fill several positions for both ongoing and non-ongoing opportunities for APS5 Policy Officers and APS5 Project Research Officers.

These full-time, ongoing and non-ongoing positions offer a competitive salary range of $80,634 up to $88,798 pa per annum plus 15.4% superannuation.

Join Our Team as an APS5 Project Research Officer – University Study, Race Discrimination Team!

Join our team under the guidance of the Director of the Study into the Prevalence and Impact of Racism in Australian Universities. In this critical role, you will support the development and implementation of an urgent research study that examines the prevalence, nature, and impact of racism within Australian universities. Your work will help shed light on this important issue and contribute to meaningful change in higher education.

**Please refer to the attached Position Descriptions for specific duties relevant to the Policy Officers and the Project Research Officers.**

What You’ll Do

  • Public Awareness & Education: Collaborate to design and implement national anti-racism initiatives. Engage communities through robust consultation strategies grounded in human rights.
  • Research & Analysis: Contribute to best practice research and analysis and assist in preparing high-quality research reports and engagement materials.
  • Project Management: Support the project team to meet key milestones and ensure effective delivery and/or.
  • Policy development: Support policy initiatives to effectively implement the National Anti-Racism Framework (depending on which role you are applying for).
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Work closely with subject matter experts and external suppliers to enhance project outcomes.
  • Strategic Direction: Work within a high-performing team that values collaboration. Demonstrate sound judgment, problem-solving skills, and adaptability to changing demands.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Knowledge & Experience: A strong understanding of race, racism, and anti-racism, as well as the historical and contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Experience in policy development and/or public awareness initiatives and/or research is highly regarded.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and sensitively to diverse audiences, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience. First Nations people and those from other negatively racialised backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
