Humanitarian Advisory Group (HAG) is a Melbourne based social enterprise that brings fresh thinking to challenge the status quo of humanitarian aid. As an ethically driven business, we combine humanitarian passion with entrepreneurial agility to think and do things differently.

The role

We pride ourselves for being ridiculously flexible and supporting our staff to achieve the best outcomes possible. You will be working 5 days a week (4 days remotely with 1 day a week spent with the rest of the team in our CBD office). The key responsibilities for this role are as follows:

Lead Blueprint for Change Research

  • Lead implementation of the second year of a complex research project focused on systemic humanitarian reform in Indonesia.
  • Work with colleagues to conduct the research with methodological rigour and adapt to changing circumstances as needed.
  • Effectively engage partners and stakeholders to maximise the accuracy, relevance and future application of research findings in Australia, Indonesia and globally.
  • Support and build capacity of local partners.
  • Produce high quality research reports for publication.
  • Present research at relevant domestic and international fora.
  • Complete other project management tasks as required including monitoring and evaluation, reporting, invoicing.

Technical Oversight of Client Projects

  • Provide technical advice to team members for client projects including on technical content and communication, such as structure, writing and presentation.

Essential Key selection criteria

  • Deep understanding of global humanitarian reform and its practical application
  • Experience applying different research methodologies
  • Demonstrated problem solving
  • Experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders and managing partnerships in Australia and internationally
  • Demonstrated experience translating conceptual ideas into operational realities
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and strong writing skills
  • Strong computer literacy skills, particularly in Microsoft Office, social media and managing websites
  • The ability to work independently as well as cooperatively in a team environment and with competing deadlines
  • Understanding of HAG’s values and a keen interest in humanitarian aid

Desirable selection criteria

  • Knowledge of languages other than English
  • Understanding of the humanitarian sector in Indonesia
