Organiser - Murrumbidgee District

The Health Services Union NSW/ACT/QLD is a strong, growing union with over 41,000 members that aims to use its collective power to build a fair and just society through improving conditions for our members in the health and aged care industry.

The HSU is currently hiring for an Organiser in Public Health Regional Division. The position will initially be working within the Murrumbidgee district; however, HSU Organising staff may be directed to change work locations.

Job Description

  • Recruit workers to the HSU;
  • Build activism amongst union members and mentoring members into leadership positions;
  • Visit public hospitals, public imaging, public pathology and public practices.

Essential Experience and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to trade union values
  • High level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with, and develop the skills and confidence of members and delegates, with a strong focus on recruiting new members and delegates
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise work to achieve desired outcomes
  • Ability to work semi-autonomously
  • Demonstrated initiative, drive and resilience in an ever-changing environment
  • A sound knowledge of the industrial relations system, collective bargaining and individual industrial instruments
  • Computer literacy and keyboard skills
  • A current driver’s licence is essential

Please note that some travel throughout the State, an occasional overnight stay away from home and flexibility in start and finish times are an expectation of the role
