About the Role:

HSM is looking for a new Health Coach to provide high quality, brief online interventions and support to individuals affected by alcohol. Our new Health Coaching service will be available to members of our alcohol behaviour change app (Daybreak), as well as members of the general public.

As our Health Coach, you will use evidence-based techniques to support clients to change their relationship with alcohol, provide information and referral as required.

You will be part of a dynamic and experienced Clinical team, with regular supervision and access to professional development and flexible working arrangements. You will be a person who is motivated and able to work independently, with a passion for using evidence-based interventions to achieve excellent outcomes for clients. For the right candidate, working from home arrangements are negotiable.

We will consider both Full time and Part time candidates.

About You:

Essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in health, social, or behavioural science fields e.g. psychology, social work, nursing preferred. Experienced Mental health or drug and alcohol staff (diploma trained) will also be considered on merit.
  • Post-graduate qualifications in relevant area of specialty (mental health or drug and alcohol counselling) or in the process of achieving the same are desirable.
  • Membership with the relevant professional body (e.g. general registration with AHPRA, membership with AASW).
  • A minimum of at least 1 year post-qualification clinical experience within Mental Health Services (background in AOD counselling would be preferable).
  • A high level of computer literacy (including Word and Excel and G-suite, as well as online messaging services).
  • Comfortable delivering clinical services via an online platform (i.e. online chat, video counselling).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.
  • A good understanding and/or willingness to undertake relevant training in relation to risk management and client confidentiality in online settings.
  • The right to permanently live and work in Australia.

Desirable

  • Experience working in online or telemental health settings.
  • Training or experience in Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
  • Experience in developing clinical content for online interventions.
  • Ability to work outside of office hours (including Saturdays) if required.
  • A strong interest in the use of technology to support behaviour change, and a desire to further your knowledge and experience in the field of digital therapeutics.
  • Experience using online practice management software.

Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Responding to and following up appointment requests from Health Coaching service clients looking for support in changing their relationship with alcohol.
  • Conducting online Health Coaching appointments and maintaining a client caseload.
  • Providing support to the Clinical Manager as required.
  • Contributing to reporting requirements for the Health Coaching service.
  • Assisting other team members with tasks such as testing new technology and providing advice and feedback for new projects.
  • Participation in supervision (individual and peer) and debriefing
  • Working with the Clinical team to manage risk issues with clients and help create systems and processes to ensure high quality care.
