Position Purpose

The Role of the KMS Midwife (and Aboriginal Health Workers) is to support women and their children

In their journey through:

1. Pregnancy and the antenatal period
2. Educate towards labour and birth
3. The postnatal period – (the first six to eight weeks of a baby’s life)
4. Utilise Endorsing for Midwife Qualifications by using Medicare Provider & Prescriber number as required.

Qualifications and Registrations Requirement

Drivers Licence Essential

AHPRA Registered Nurse Division 1 practicing Certificate Essential

AHPRA Registered Midwife Division 1 practicing Certificate Essential

Endorsed Prescribing for Midwife Certificate Desirable

Completion of a Pap test course or willingness to complete same Desirable

Vaccination Certificate or willingness to obtain same Desirable

A person of Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander background Desirable
