HR4A is a charitable law firm, which provides pro bono services to detained and complex case asylum seekers in Australia.
Our caseload is increasing and we require the support of an experienced solicitor. Extensive experience in human rights is not required (although this would be a bonus). Instead, the candidate needs to have attention to detail, be competent with clients, barristers and deadlines, professional and self driven and possess a willingness to learn. This will be a mixed role, including litigation and law reform work.
HR4A works within the Australian legal system (tribunal and court work), as well as the domestic and international human rights systems (we liaise with the UN and the International Criminal Court, and the Australian Human Rights Commission).
This is a volunteer position, with a view to part-time and full-time paid employment, dependent on funding. Flexible hours are welcome.
The approved candidate will work directly with Alison Battisson, the Director Principal of HR4A.
