Accountant (voluntary)

Human Rights for All

HR4A is a charitable law firm, which provides pro bono services to detained and complex case asylum seekers in Australia.

As our caseload increases, we are needing extra help all round. We are looking for a registered accountant who not only cares deeply about human rights, but is committed to guiding our firm as it expands and develops its mission. We are at the point where some financial expertise and oversight is required on an ongoing basis, helping us to manage our resources, ensure financial governance measures are adhered to (we are a DGR-registered charity), and help us as we develop our fundraising and revenue-raising capacity.

Experience in the not-for-profit sector would be well-regarded, but is not essential.

HR4A works within the Australian legal system (tribunal and court work), as well as the domestic and international human rights systems (we liaise with the UN and the International Criminal Court, and the Australian Human Rights Committee). We are also involved in the areas of law reform and education.

This is a volunteer position. Flexible hours are welcome.

The approved candidate will work directly with Alison Battisson, the Director Principal of HR4A, and other team members (including EA/bookkeeper).
