The Opportunity

The Cancer Council is looking for a focused Business Development / Fundraising Manager who is ready to bring new ideas to innovate their outreach strategy and improve the financial return of their fundraising efforts.

You will be reporting directly to the CEO and working in collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team where you will lead the strategic fundraising and marketing direction of Cancer Council ACT, during an important growth phase.

In addition, you will provide leadership and direction in relation to the organisation's marketing, communications, and digital activities, which include media and communications, brand, marketing and digital responsibilities while working with a dedicated team who are passionate about The Cancer Council's mission of funding research, delivering prevention programs, advocating for change and providing vital support to people affected by cancer.

The Role

As the Business Development / Fundraising Manager you will be responsible for managing a small team while developing and building local business and corporate relationships to drive growth and acquisition of new revenue.

As part of your key responsibilities, you will:

  • Create and execute a business development / fundraising and marketing strategy
  • Manage fundraising and marketing activities with responsibility for a variety of functions including individual donors, peer to peer fundraising, marketing, events, communications, website management, social media, community engagement and PR activities
  • Manage, grow and evaluate events, campaigns and fundraising activities, including Daffodil Day, Relay for Life, Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, The Longest Day and Do It For Cancer community fundraising events
  • Explore opportunities for other fundraising campaigns that work in synergy with the cancer information, support and prevention team
  • Manage and drive effective community partnerships and programs to position CCACT as an active and positive recipient of community charity funds
  • Manage and analyse the fundraising and marketing budget
  • Manage the donor and community relationships
  • In collaboration with the Management team, contribute to and implement Cancer Council ACT's strategic, business and financial plans

Your Background and Experience

You are someone that has a strong sense of accountability with strong experience in business development and fundraising. You are driven to achieve financial growth and success with limited oversight.

You have an interest in charity and making a positive impact on the community appeals to you. You are ready to get your hands dirty and participate in the major fundraising events in the calendar such as the Relay for Life, Daffodil Day and Australia's Biggest Morning Tea.

You are a creative, entrepreneurial leader who can articulate and implement a clear vision internally and externally for the organisation to 'bring people on a journey''.

Applicants who have Marketing/Fundraising experience / a tertiary qualification in a relevant field will be highly desirable.

Salary / Rate

A competitive salary will be offered to the successful candidate dependant on experience.

Although there is no onsite parking available there is plenty of free parking in the surrounding area.
