  • Type and tenure: 3 days (22.8 hours) per week, fixed term contract until 30 June 2021. Note that this role has the potential to be extended after this period.
  • Renumeration: $80,000 P.A. P.R. excluding 9.5% super (pro rata annual salary of $48,000 plus 9.5% super).
  • Location: Melbourne (can work from home) or Eltham, Victoria. During the Pandemic, the role will be required to comply with government requirements (i.e. from home or an alternative location).

About Homeward Bound

Homeward Bound is a ground-breaking, global leadership initiative, set against the backdrop of Antarctica, which aims to heighten the influence and impact of women in making decisions that shape our planet.

It does this through the delivery of a 12-month online leadership program for women from around the world with a background in STEMM, culminating in a three-week intensive in Antarctica.

Now in its fifth year of operation, Homeward Bound has over 400 women in its network from over 57 countries.

About You

You are a communications strategy development specialist, with experience working in a global context. You are passionate about women’s leadership, STEMM, and the future of our planet, and thrive in a fast-paced, ambitious and purpose-driven organisation. You have exceptional content development, journalistic and content marketing, writing and editing skills, particularly in digital and social media. You have runs on the board managing diverse, complex, global stakeholders and audiences, and are at ease driving engaging, multimedia campaigns.

The Role

The role is a fixed term contract until 30 June 2021, 3 days a week, with a high probability of extension. It can be delivered remotely from anywhere in Melbourne, or be based in at Homeward Bound HQ in Eltham, Victoria.

This role entails but is not limited to:

  • Management of Homeward Bound’s external communications to multiple, global stakeholders
  • The management of production, and responsibility for the curation and execution of multimedia content tailored for different audiences across various channels
  • Supporting with the development of a 1-3 year communications strategy; responsible for strategy implementation
  • Designing and implementing communication campaigns for key events, initiatives and key program stages.

Experience and Skills Required

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in communications strategy development and implementation in global contexts
  • Content development across multiple mediums and platforms
  • Understanding of STEMM issues and audience
  • Experience delivering campaigns in NGO, social justice, gender equality space
  • Experience communicating to culturally diverse audiences, strong understanding of intersectionality
  • Exceptional writing, editing and communication skills
  • Strong design eye, experience working with graphic designers, photographers, videographers
  • Digital native with up-to-the-minute knowledge of social platforms and content creation
  • Building global social media teams
