Huntington's Disease Specialist (0.6 FTE)

As part of the national Community Programs team within the Community Programs & NDIS Services function, this role is based in our Adelaide office, and reports to the Community Programs Team Leader.

This role provides programs and services directly to people with HD, their families and communities in South Australia and the Northern Territory. The role also provides education and information to the health sector and other service providers to increase awareness and understanding of the disease.

The position is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award and is classified at Grade 5 ($49.28 - $51.51 per hr).

About You

This rewarding, part time role will suit an experienced individual with a minimum tertiary qualification equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in allied or mental health, psychology, or social work. Relevant experience in an area directly relevant to health, disability or community services is desirable.

  • You will have well-developed interpersonal skills, utilising an empathetic approach to establish and maintain supports for individuals impacted by HD.
  • Your ability to build trust with clients who may have complex physical, social, and psychological care needs is essential.
  • Your high level written, and verbal communication skills will be backed up by the ability to negotiate with, and influence service providers and stakeholders on behalf of participants.
  • Good planning and organisational skills will be essential as you work effectively to achieve deadlines and balance priorities.
  • Your ability to develop effective working relationships with health and community service providers is essential.
