The Role

The Regional Coordinator role will provide great opportunities to work with our network of Indigenous communities and other partners in northern Australia and support the many healthy country projects underway. Introducing new initiatives, building on existing partnerships, and helping to grow the capability and capacity of our teams and partners, will be the primary responsibility for the successful candidate. 

We operate on the basis of good working relationships with the broader community and this role provides an opportunity to work within a supportive team environment to help influence people and deliver outcomes on-country.  This role provides leadership opportunities for the right person, as they will explore ‘healthy country’ opportunities across all sectors of the community.

This is a ‘hands on’ role where you will be supporting teams and projects to work effectively by enabling communication and connection.

You will have local networks and connections with Indigenous people in the top end and a passion to work with Traditional Owners on developing Healthy Country plans and supporting their implementation.  We strive to provide a culturally safe working environment for our people.

DUTIES

1. Do everything required, within the bounds of Conservation Management Beliefs and Values, to successfully secure and deliver projects and develop relationships that build our impact in the world
2. Deliver and support Healthy Country and Open Standards processes for Conservation
   Management nationally and internationally, specifically supporting the GreenCollar partnership
3. Support all other employees, contractors, partners and clients of Conservation Management to achieve great things
4. Field work and field work activities, including travel and logistics, in support of projects and teams to enable communication and connection
5. Comply with all Conservation Management policies, procedures and systems
6. Relationship management activities that support the growth of Conservation Management’s impact
7. Timely delivery of existing projects and submissions for new projects;
8. Support Conservation Managements communications including recording and photographing stories relating to projects for use in Social Media and other forums.
9. Manage rest and reflection time as required, in balance with project/role requirements 

Selection Criteria

Essential: 

• Demonstrated experience delivering projects with a mix of local, national and international audiences; including Indigenous Australians; State and Federal Government Departments, Local Government and Non-government organisations.
• Previous experience working in a ‘hands on’ capacity supporting teams and projects to work effectively through enabling connection and communication.
• Self-motivated and capacity to work both individually and as part of the team in any environment.
• Organised; adaptable; positive approach to working with others.
• Cool under pressure, able to diffuse conflict before it arises.
• Apply political and emotional awareness to relationship management.
• Knowledge of the Open Standards and their application
• Excellent communication skills with experience in Indigenous / community engagement.
• Strong knowledge of communication practices and techniques.
• High-level skills in the use of typical ‘office’ and ‘business’ software particularly in a distributed organisation 

Desirable

• Demonstrated Four-wheel drive experience, including recovery of vehicles 
• Demonstrated first aid in remote situation experience
• Demonstrated use of remote area communications protocols

Employment entitlements

This role is 0.8 FTE with flexible arrangements available. Ideally located in Darwin with some flexibility for other NT locations.  Field work will be required from time to time.
