At Hireup, we understand the important role technology, and specifically, digital product plays in connecting people. For the tech team at Hireup, it’s not only about creating the most elegant, intuitive, accessible and powerful peer-to-peer platform in Australia, but to ensure we are building an efficient and lean model that maximises choice and control for both Australians living with a disability and their support workers.

The opportunity

As a senior back-end software engineer, your primary focus will be to collaborate with the other members of the Product team to discover, design and implement product features that will have significant business and user impact. Being part of a newly formed team working on greenfields development, the work will be varied and challenging.

Priorities - the work

  • Work collaboratively on the design and building of efficient systems and elegant abstractions; engineering for performance and maintainability
  • Contribute to the re-platforming and evolution of our financial systems
  • Contribute to the maintenance of our core application
  • Participate in business hours support for the systems owned by the team
  • Interact with other teams including Finance, Service and Customer Experience to take a cross-functional approach to building new features for our community of users in our core application
  • Grow our development capabilities and help build a culture of innovation and technical excellence

Skills - the person

  • Proven experience with C# and .NET, ideally with exposure to .NET core and C# 8.0
  • Experience with JavaScript and Node.js
  • RESTful API development experience. Bonus points for hands-on experience with event-driven architectures
  • CI/CD deployments to AWS or other cloud environments
  • Solid understanding of software testing and quality assurance
  • Experience with various relational and non-relational databases
  • Collaborative approach with experience working in an Agile team environment
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Strong connection to, or interest in building an understanding of the Australian disability sector and community
  • Great eye for detail and a strong sense of responsibility, approaching work with high-energy, drive and internal motivation

The position is full-time and the salary will be dependent on experience.
